Counselling Psychologist in Training
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Counselling , Humanistic, Integrative, Psychodynamic, Relational
Vjosa Hyseni is a Psychological Counsellor and a Counselling Psychologist in Training (DPsych) with clinical experience and knowledge in range of difficulties including: Borderline Personality Disorder, Eating Disorders, Anxiety related Disorders (i.e. Low-Self-Esteem, Depression, Panic Attacks, Health Anxiety) Bereavement and Attachment Issues. As humans are highly complex and unique entities, Vjosa draws on a range of psychological approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamic Therapy.
Psychological therapy is often sought when we encounter painful and debilitating experiences, which can affect us mentally and emotionally, physically and interpersonally. Vjosa is professionally trained to help make sense of one’s emotional pain and implement psychological change through the use evidence-based practice. Following an initial assessment, Vjosa will develop a clinical formulation that will explain to you, on the basis of psychological theory, why you have developed a particular difficulty. These Psychological Formulations (which are often drawn up as a clear diagram for you to see) also factor any underlying assumptions you may have, and difficulties that might have occurred in your interactions with others and in certain situations. Typically, our assumptions are influenced from past experiences, which may be painful and evoke a range of emotions, including shame, anxiety and depression. However, Vjosa’s non-judgmental, warmth and empathic stance will provide you with a safe space where you can feel comfortable to share painful memories. Vjosa’s clinical work is supervised by leading Psychologist, Dr. Becky Spelman. Treatment also follows British Psychological Society and The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidelines (Nice).
Vjosa is also a scientific-researcher with a particular interest in psychotherapeutic theories and how they may be upholding and reproducing social and political inequalities. Vjosa acknowledges issues concerning diversity, difference, community, and the impact of inequality in therapy. As such, Vjosa would like to generate scientific knowledge in how clinicians can manage cultural constructions of wellbeing in therapy.
